A short while ago we let you know that Ridley Scott had insisted that his Prometheus sequel, ALIEN: PARADISE LOST, come out before the Neill Blomkamp proposed ALIEN 5 project which was said to also involve Sigourney Weaver. According to a report in Variety, Academy Award winning actor Matthew McConaughey was offered the role of the main villain in the upcoming Marvel film GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2. However, the trade claims that McConaughey turned the role down and James Gunn and company are still looking for their Antagonist for the sequel.
As most of you know, STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS isn’t the only film opening on December 18th. The new Amy Poehler / Tina Fey comedy SISTERS will bow in on the 18th as well as the next ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS. On today's Collider Movie Talk (Wednesday October 28th 2015) we discuss the following topics:
PITCH PERFECT 2 was a phenomenal success for the studio. The sequel took in almost triple of what the original film made when it took home over $285 million dollars at the box office on a measly $29 million dollar production budget so it should come as no surprise that a third film is on the way. Now The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Elizabeth Banks has signed on to direct the third film as well. John, what do you think of Elizabeth Banks returning to direct
Deadline is reporting that PADDINGTON director Paul King has agreed to return to helm the sequel, PADDINGTON 2. King will also be co-writing the script for the new film picking up on the success of the original which made almost $260 million worldwide on just a $55 million dollar budget and scored an outstanding 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. There is no release date yet for the new film as producers want to give King time to develop the new project.
Variety is reporting that yet another MONOPOLY movie is in development. This one however will be a little different as it will focus on the true story of how the game came into existence… and it’s a little more interesting than you may think. The film will be based on 2 separate books, The Monopolists: Obsession, Fury and the Scandal Behind the World’s Favorite Board Game as well as The Billion Dollar Monopoly Swindle.
It’s being reported that Academy Award nominee Rooney Mara and Nicholas Hoult have signed on to star in the upcoming film THE DISCOVERY, a science fiction love story set in a world where the existence of the afterlife is scientifically proven. THE DISCOVERY is set a year after the world changing discovery of a provable afterlife. Hoult plays the son of the man responsible for the discovery and Mara plays a woman he falls in love with whose life is tinged by a tragic past.
If there was ANY negative feedback at all from the most recent and final trailer for STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS, it was the complete lack of Luke Skywalker. When asked about the absence of the quintessential Star Wars hero from any of the marketing, director JJ Abrams said the following: “These are good questions to be asking. I can’t wait for you to find out the answer… It’s no accident.”
10 Years Old - The Legend Of Zorro, Prime, Saw 2, The Weatherman
20 Years Old - Vampire In Brooklyn, Three Wishes, Powder, Copycat
Ben Qualls writes: Hey Collider crew, I have two questions for you. Since almost everyone will appear in Marvel’s Infinity War, who would be on your top 5 list of superheroes to die? And, who do you think the new Avengers lineup will consist of after Part 2? Thanks, and keep up the great work.
Alex Colon writes: I have always been curious in regards of good CGI between Movies and TV. Does the TV production use the same equipment as the movies? If they do, why put so much money into CGI if there both using the same equipment. Love to hear from you, thanks and keep up the great work.

Let’s talk about Kick Ass
I’ve seen the future, and it looks like Transmetropolitan. Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson created this world with magnified current events, and laid out a future filled with hybrid aliens, rigged conspiracies, a garbage filled dystopian society barely hanging onto sanity and chronicling it all is journalist and all around super freak Spider Jeruselem.

On today's episode of Collider Movie Talk (Tuesday October 27th 2015) we discuss the following topics:
Ever since it was announced that Disney had bought Lucasfilm and were delivering more STAR WARS movies, many fans have wondered when we may get another INDIANA JONES adventure. Steven Spielberg himself suggested at a recent press event that he is mostly likely directing a new INDIANA JONES. In that same vein, many have speculated who that new INDIANA JONES may be, but according to recent comments by INDIANA JONES producer, Frank Marshall in an interview with Total Film, they’re not interested in anyone else other than Harrison Ford playing the role. Marshall said the following: “There are a lot of rumours. We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet… at some point we’ll sit down. But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton… We’re not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones… we have to figure this out.”
As many of you know a sequel to the Keanu Reeves action film JOHN WICK is in development and begins shooting this week. Now we know who Wick will be fighting. According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, actor/musician Common will play the main antagonist, the head of security for a female crime lord.
According to a report in Variety, the upcoming giant monster movie, COLOSSAL has rounded out its cast. Academy Award winner Anne Hathaway and Jason Sudeikis will be joined by DOWNTON ABBY’s and the upcoming BEAUTY AND THE BEAST’s Dan Stevens. Colossal follows Hathaway as Gloria, a woman living in New York who, after breaking up with her boyfriend (Stevens), moves back home. It’s there that she finds out that she has some kind of psychic link to a gigantic monster that is terrorizing Seoul. In order to prevent further destruction, Gloria needs to determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.
The Hollywood Foreign Press and NBC have announced that comedian Ricky Gervais will return this year to host the 73rd Golden Globe Awards. Gervais has hosted the event 3 times before from 2010 - 2012 with a little controversy and a lot of success. Gervais takes over the hosting duties from Tina Fey and Amy Poehler who have lead the show for the last 3 years.
First up is the new Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller film BURNT. Adam Jones (Played by Cooper) was once a top chef in Paris until drugs and alcohol led to a meltdown that put his career on hold. After moving from New Orleans to London, Adam gets a shot at redemption when his former maitre d' (played by Daniel Brühl) reluctantly hires him as the head chef of his fine-dining restaurant. Demanding perfection from his newly formed staff, the acerbic and temperamental Jones gets a second chance to fulfill his dream of earning a third Michelin star.
Next is the political comedy OUR BRAND IS CRISIS. Failing badly in the polls, a Bolivian presidential candidate enlists the services of an American management team for help. The main star is "Calamity" Jane Bodine (played by Sandra Bullock), a brilliant strategist who comes out of self-imposed retirement for a chance to beat her professional nemesis, the loathsome Pat Candy (played by Billy Bob Thornton). With Candy working for the opposition, it becomes a down-and-dirty, all-out battle between political consultants, where nothing is sacred and winning is all that matters.
Justin Parker writes: Hey Guys, ive been watching for a little over 2.5 years and have been a devotee since the days in that little closet space, my question is with Will Smith taking on Deadshot and a possible multi-appearance contract and then gearing up to do the announced bad boys 3 & 4, will Mr. Smith ever return to what i consider a film that had serious potential "Hancock" or even headline a new franchise that doesn’t have a pre-existing brand or fan base like the juggernaut, that will be Suicide Squad. Keep up the great work.
Eric Maier writes: What are your thoughts on this: will the success of Star Wars VII’s marketing campaign and trailer release change the way other studios do their marketing? If something works, history shows that other people will try to emulate that model. Could this usher in a new era in movie marketing and create a new age of “event” movies? Thanks and keep on living the dream.

Hi Collider Crew im a big fan from sweden and I have watched at movietalk for a long time and you are greate. My question is regarding the rumors on BvS that Moviepilot is talking about. That Ben Afflec is NOT Batman, not the Bruce Wayne Batman enyway, instead they say that he will be playing Slade Wilson as Batman and Christian Bale will be coming back in BvS as Bruce Wayne. Your thaught on this, thanks and keep up the good work.
7. Mike Staley writes:
Dear Collider Crew, We all know the success of a sequel is impacted by the positive or negative reaction to the film the preceded it. Given the negative reaction to the prequels, are you surprised that pre-sale tickets are as high as they are, and are they proof that the hatred for the prequels has in no way diminished the world's love for Star Wars? Thanks, and keep bringing the fun,

On today's episode of Collider Movie Talk (Thursday October 22nd 2015) we discuss the following topics:
The new James Bond film SPECTRE hit theatres here in North America in just a few weeks, but the first press screening was held in London and the initial reactions are making their way online. The response to the film seems to be mostly positive but also a bit mixed. The Guardian wrote: “Spectre review: James Bond is back, stylish, camp and sexily pro-Snowden” and The Times writer Kate Muir tweeted after the screening: “Shall be giving #SPECTRE the full five-star treatment in The Times tomorrow”. However, a writer from The Playlist and Yahoo Movies tweeted: “SPECTRE: Quantum Of Solace 2: This Time It's Personal. Bad action, lousy plotting, Lea Seydoux only redeeming feature.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter ANT-MAN director Peyton Reed is currently in talks to return for ANT-MAN AND THE WASP, the sequel to the film already set for a July 6, 2018 release date. The first ANT-MAN film loved by both critics and audiences alike scoring an 80% critic rating and an 89% audience rating and also exceeded studio expectation by making over $454 million dollars worldwide.
A brand new trailer for the upcoming Will Ferrell/Mark Wahlberg comedy DADDY’S HOME has just hit the web. Daddy’s Home follows a mild-mannered radio executive (Ferrell) who strives to become the best step dad to his wife’s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling and freeloading real father (Wahlberg) arrives, forcing him to compete for the affection of the kids. DADDY’S HOME hits theatres on Christmas day.

With help from a savvy hooker (Kate Hudson), two war profiteers and a trigger-happy mercenary (Bruce Willis), Richie embarks on a mission to make sure his new star gets discovered.
Mike Foster writes: Greetings Collider crew, according to Box Office Mojo Jurassic World opened on 4291 screens earning the highest opening weekend of all time, and the most opening weekend screens is 4468 for The Twilight Saga Eclipse. How many theaters do you think The Force Awakens will open, can it exceed 4500?
Jennifer Linden writes: My question is about Batman v Superman. With the huge success of the new Star Wars in regards to advanced ticket sales, how big should our expectations be when the Dark Knight takes on The Man Of Steel? Could the advance ticket sales eclipse those of the new Star Wars?
Bespin Raptor writes: Hey Collider Crew. I'm a big fan and watch most of your shows every day. My question is: at what point is a spoiler no longer a spoiler? If I were to say that Darth Vader is Luke's father, no one would care. But if I were to mention the ending of a movie currently in theaters or just released on DVD/Blu-ray, many people would consider it to be too soon. So how long should someone wait before they start talking about all aspects of a movie and not being worried about spoiling it for people. Thanks, and keep up the great videos.
