Doctor Strange Confirmed In Avengers: Infinity War - Collider Movie Talk
On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (September 27th, 2016) John Campea, Kristian Harloff, Jon Schnepp, Jeremy Jahns and Ashley Mova discuss the following:

-Doctor Strange confirmed to be in Avengers Infinity War

-Jyn Erso’s mother revealed to be in Rogue One

-Opening this week

-Martin Scorsese’s Silence get’s Oscar friendly release

-Harbinger movie and shared universe in development at Sony

-Live action/animated Peter Rabbit movie in the works with James Corden, Daisy Ridley and Rose Byrne

-John Carpenter blasts Rob Zombie’s Halloween remake

-Mail Bag

At this point, the question isn’t who is in Avengers: Infinity War, the question is - who isn’t? In an interview with Empire Magazine on the set of Doctor Strange, Benedict Cumberbatch confirmed his Doctor Strange will be showing up in Infinity War, saying that they are currently trying to align his schedule with Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany.

As Gareth Edwards‘ Rogue One: A Star Wars Story approaches its December 16th release date, a new report from Belfast Live (via Screenrant) looks to have revealed the other half of Jyn Erso’s parentage. Actor Valene Kane was speaking with the outlet about her dream casting in the blockbuster fantasy and in doing so, revealed her part as none other than Lyra Erso, Jyn’s mother; though how she fits in to the story remains to be seen.

OPENING THIS WEEK

In a new report from The Wrap, Martin Scorsese’s long delayed Silence has finally secured a released date on the Oscar friendly day of December 23rd, later this year. It will then expand into more theaters later in January. Silence stars Adam Driver and Andrew Garfield as two two Jesuit priests who go looking for their mentor, played by Liam Neeson, in 17th Century Japan; a time when outsiders, and especially Christians, were treated with disdain and mistrust.

According to The Wrap, Sony is moving forward on its five-film plan for a joint film franchise based on the Valiant comic books Harbinger and Bloodshot; with the movies reportedly leading to culminate in a Harbinger Wars crossover event film. Harbinger follows a teenage runaway Peter Stanchek who has massive telekinetic powers. The second title, Bloodshot, is about a mortally wounded soldier resurrected with cutting-edge nanotechnology and charged with rounding up “harbingers” like Stanchek. No release dates have been set.

According to Variety, Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki have joined the cast of Sony’s live-action/animated hybrid Peter Rabbit, that already has Rose Byrne and James Corden attached to star. The film will be directed by Will Gluck from a screenplay by Rob Lieber, and will be made at Animal Logic, the Sydney-based animation and visual effects production studio behind the The Lego Movie. Production is due to commence in January 2017, and is set for worldwide release in April of 2018.

Original Halloween director John Carpenter took part in a Q & A with some film students back in April, with the video only now hitting the internet. In the chat, Carpenter addressed the comments made by Rob Zombie from a 2010 TV documentary called Halloween: The Inside Story and had some harsh things to say.

Mr. Robot Finale Review / Fall TV First Look - Collider TV Talk
On this episode of Collider TV Talk (September 26th, 2016) Josh Macuga, David Griffin, Sinéad de Vries and Sasha Perl-Raver discuss:

-Cary Fukunaga exits TNT’s The Alienist

-OC creators to bring Toy Wars to series

-Tom Hardy's production company to produce sci-fi drama series Trees

-First trailer for Supergirl reveals Superman

-Last trailer released for Luke Cage

-New trailer released for The Flash

-Will the Punisher appear in Agents of SHIELD?

-Mr Robot finale review

-Highs and Lows

-Twitter questions

Cary Fukunaga, who set the bar so high after season 1 of True Detective that the entire TV world is begging for TV that perfect again, just broke hearts again by stepping away from writing and directing TNT’s The Alienist. We’ve talked about the writer director’s possible future projects, like the Napoleon miniseries at HBO and Maniac with Emma Stone and Jonah Hill for Netflix. It appears however that Fukunaga will direct the feature film The Black Count, based on The Count of Monte Cristo author Alexandre Dumas’ real life as the son of a black slave who rose the ranks of the French Army.

According to Deadline, Josh Schwartz, who created The OC and Gossip girl will be bringing the book Toy Wars: The Epic Struggle Between G.I. Joe, Barbie, and the Companies that Make Them to Amazon. Schwartz will team up with actor Josh Gad who will star in the series and co-write with Ryan Dixon. The book was written by journalist G. Wayne Miller, who spent years shadowing Hasbro CEO Alan Hassenfeld, who reluctantly took over the company after his brother passed away from AIDS.

Actor Tom Hardy’s production company Hardy Son & Baker, set up by Tom Hardy and Dean Baker are getting their first two shows up and running at NBC Universal where they have a first look overall deal. The company will produce the sci-fi drama, Trees, about alien trees appearing in our world and, Pendulum, a thriller revolving around a serial killer in the digital world.

SUPERHERO RUNDOWN

The much awaited first trailer of Supergirl on The CW, WITH Superman, finally dropped to the enthused TV watching audience. It appears the two superheroes from Krypton are working together to save the world!

With Luke Cage only 5 short days away from it’s premiere on September 30th, Netflix released the show’s final trailer. The streaming service offered us a more in depth look at Cornell Stokes played by Mahershala Ali and our first taste of Alfre Woodard as Mariah Stokes, the matriarch of the crime family. We also see more destroyed hoodies as well as the usual jacket AND a Method Man cameo.

In the latest The Flash trailer from The CW, we get a bigger glimpse of the flashpoint paradox and Barry’s interaction with Kid Flash, we also get a longer explanation of what happens in this timeline, which still confuses Josh.

The final story in Superhero rundown today is purely speculative, but it appears that Jon Bernthal could be in Marvel’s Agents of Shield. A tweet was sent out by New York Comic Con that pushed Bernthal’s appearance at the con to Saturday and Sunday due to his Netflix schedule. It could mean he has a cameo in Iron Fist, BUT it could be smoke and mirrors, because SHIELD executive producer, Jeph Loeb brought Punisher creator, Gerry Conway, along with a few other VIPs to an Agents of SHIELD screening last week.
