Shane Black’s next project, The Predator, remains largely a mystery when it comes to the plot – other it will take place in the suburbs and will be R-rated. Rumors however, continue with one of the more persistent being the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger. The star of the movie, Boyd Holbrook, recently spoke with We Got This Covered and he told the outlet that The Predator is “something totally new” and not a sequel.

THR reports that Sam Raimi is coming on board to helm the mystery thriller centered around the Bermuda Triangle for Skydance Productions. The movie is one of three Bermuda Triangle projects in development, with Universal and Warner Bros. also developing their own tales about the infamous patch of the Caribbean where planes and ships have gone missing.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, veteran actor James Cromwell has been added to the cast of Universal’s upcoming Jurassic World sequel in an unknown role.  A Monster Calls director JA Bayona directs from a script by Colin Trevorrow and Derek Connolly.

A new trailer for Colossal has landed online giving us another look at filmmaker Nacho Vigalando’s unique new movie. The film stars Anne Hathaway as Gloria, a woman whose life is falling to pieces. Just as she loses her job and gets kicked out of her apartment, a giant Kaiju starts popping up in Soeul, South Korea; destroying everything in its path. Gloria soon realizes she shares a psychic connection with the monster and her reckless behavior threatens to destroy more than just her relationships.

Columbia Pictures and Skydance have released a new Life featurette and poster featuring Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson and Ryan Reynolds. Life is the new sci-fi thriller about a team of scientists aboard the International Space Station whose mission of discovery turns to one of fear when they find a rapidly evolving life form that caused extinction on Mars.

New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. have unveiled the very first trailer for the comedy The House. The film stars Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler as a married couple who, after losing their daughter’s college fund, become desperate to earn it back. As a result, they team up with their neighbor and start an illegal casino in their basement. Neighbors and Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates co-writer Andrew Jay Cohen makes his feature directorial debut on the project, with the movie set to open on June 30th.

Mel Gibson In Talks To Direct Suicide Squad 2 - Collider Movie Talk
On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (February 16th, 2017) Perri Nemiroff, Kristian Harloff, Jon Schnepp, Mark Reilly, Natasha Martinez and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

-Mel Gibson in early talks to helm Suicide Squad 2

-Joe Carnahan to write and direct remake of The Raid

-Opening This Week – Cure for Wellness

-Jurassic World 2 registers websites that might reveal plot of movie

-New clip from Logan reveals X-23’s backstory

-Kong: Skull Island clip namedrops Godzilla tie-in and M.U.T.O.

-Get Out

-Unexpected Favorites

THR has learned that WB and DC Films are “courting” Mel Gibson to direct Suicide Squad 2. Though the report comes as a surprise, both sides are just in “early in talks” and no offer has been made. THR’s sources say that Gibson is currently familiarizing himself with the material but the studio is not being passive at all – Variety also reports that in addition to Gibson, Warners has met with — or is planning to meet with — Zombieland director Ruben Fleischer, Daniel Espinosa, director of the upcoming Life, and Warm Bodies director Jonathan Levine.

XYZ Films posted a video to Twitter in which actor Frank Grillo and director Joe Carnahan announced work on a remake of The Raid. Based on 2011’s Indonesian action series directed by Gareth Evans, the original was released in America and titled The Raid: Redemption. Shortly after the video posted, Carnahan took to Twitter to clarify that he is directing and producing the project, also revealing that Evans has given “his full blessing” and is also onboard as a producer. A release date has not been set.

Production is now underway on the JA Bayona directed sequel to Jurassic World, thanks to a Twitter announcement by producer Frank Marshall. Now, thanks to the super-sleuths over at the fan site Jurassic Outpost (via a report from MovieWeb), it appears Universal Pictures has registered some new website domains that could give us an idea of the plot for the movie. The studio addresses registered include: IslaNubarRescueMission.com, AllCreaturesHaveRights.com, and AllCreaturesHaveRights.org. The Jurassic World sequel will see the return of Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and is set to hit theatres on June 22, 2018

Director James Mangold shared a new clip from the upcoming Logan and it features footage of Laura, aka X-23, that shows a bit of her backstory and the experimentation that led to her becoming a powerful mutant. Set in the near future, Logan follows a world weary Wolverine as he cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. Little else is known about the film’s plot but that will all change as Logan will soon hit theatres on March 3, 2017.

A new clip from Kong: Skull Island has been revealed by Yahoo and it features the biggest connection to Godzilla thus far. The footage features John Goodman‘s character, Bill Randa, being grilled by Samuel Jackson’s Lt. Col. Packard about the real reason they’re all on Skull Island; with Goodman’s Randa character offering up some details that are the strongest connection to Godzilla thus far. Kong Skull Island stars Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson and John C. Reilly and hits theatres on March 10, 2017.

Lawrence Fishburne says Marvel Is Kicking DC's Ass - Collider Movie Talk
On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (February 14th, 2017) John Campea, Jeremy Jahns, Jon Schnepp, Mark Ellis, Ashley Mova and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

-Laurence Fishburne won’t appear in Justice League; says Marvel is kicking their ass

-Fast and Furious producer to adapt comic Talent for film

-Opening this week - Fist Fight, The Great Wall

-Sophie Turner says she’s planning to shoot an X-Men movie this year

-New trailer for The Bad Batch starring Jason Momoa and Keanu Reeves

-John Williams is already scoring The Last Jedi

-The Mummy

-Best Actor Oscar

In a recent interview with the LA Times, Laurence Fishburne was speaking about his most recent turn in John Wick Chapter Two when the conversation turned to DC and his involvement in Justice League. The actor confirmed that he will not be appearing in the movie, revealing that they did ask him but scheduling got in the way. Fishburne then went on to say that he is a huge comic book fan, using some particularly strong words about the live action DC Extended Universe compared to Marvel.

THR reports that Fast and Furious producer Neal Moritz and his Original Films banner have picked up the rights to the comic Talent and is teaming up with Boom! Studios to adapt it into a movie franchise. The comic tells the story of a college professor who is the sole survivor of a plane wreck, who slowly discovers he inherited the abilities of the passengers who've died. He puts his new talents to use as he finds himself chased down by members of a shadowy government organization. Original Films will now search for a writer to begin scripting, with a release date yet to be determined.

Details about the X-Men: Apocalypse sequel hasn’t been announced, but if Sophie Turner is to be believed, the next film in the series will begin shooting sometime this year. Speaking to HeyUGuys on the red carpet of the BAFTA Awards, the Game of Thrones actress was asked what projects she has coming next.

A new trailer for The Bad Batch has been released by Annapurna Pictures. The film stars Suki Waterhouse, Jason Momoa, Giovanni Ribisi, Keanu Reeves, Jim Carrey and Diego Luna and is the follow up to the writer/director Ana Lily Amirpour’s critically-acclaimed debut feature A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night. The Bad Batch follows Arlen, played by Waterhouse, as she is unceremoniously dumped in a Texas wasteland and fenced off from civilized society.

The release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi is just about 10 months away, and we haven’t seen a single frame from the film yet. However, we do have an update on the score that will be composed by the great John Williams and it proves to be an interesting little scoop that shows what is happening with the scoring and post production on the highly anticipated movie. Thanks to a tweet from our very own Robert Myer Burnett, it appears John Williams is already hard at work on the score in order to supply Rian Johnson the music to which he will edit the movie. We reached out to Robert who confirmed his report, saying it comes from a very reliable source.

New Batman Director In Talks - Collider Movie Talk

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (February 13th, 2017) John Campea, Jeremy Jahns, Kristian Harloff, Mark Ellis, Ashley Mova and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

-Matt Reeves in negotiations to direct The Batman

-Behind the scenes video plus concept art; confirms Tom Holland's Spidey w/ Chris Pratt in Infinity War

-Box Office Report

-Will Smith drops out of Dumbo

-Universal sets the Coen Brothers to write Scarface remake, Peter Berg and Hell or High Water director David Mackenzie in talks to direct

-Michael Douglas will return as Hank Pym in Ant-Man and the Wasp

-The Last Starfighter Reboot

-Infinity War Characters

A couple weeks ago, Ben Affleck announced he would not direct The Batman, but would remain on board to star and produce. Ever since, Warner Bros. has been searching for directors, and now according to Variety, they’ve landed on War for the Planet of the Apes helmer Matt Reeves. Variety reports that Reeves was always high on the list, but THR also added that the studio was also looking at Ridley Scott and Fede Alvarez to helm the movie as well.

Marvel and Disney debuted a new behind the scenes video announcing the official start of filming for Avengers Infinity War. In the video we see Robert Downey Jr., Chris Pratt, and new Spider-Man himself Tom Holland all together on the inaugural day of shooting. The video showcased some brief behind-the-scenes footage as well as new concept art of Josh Brolin as Thanos and Rocket Raccoon fighting alongside Thor.

It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report. The LEGO Batman Movie took the No 1 spot with an opening weekend debut of $55.6 million. The LEGO Movie spin-off also opened with $37 million internationally for a combined $92.6 million worldwide debut. In the No 2 spot was Universal's Fifty Shades Darker. The second movie in the Fifty Shades franchise finished with a slightly stronger than expected $46.8 million. The movie also delivered $100.1 million overseas, the fourth largest international opening weekend ever for an R-rated film, behind the original Fifty Shades of Grey. In the No 3 spot was John Wick Chapter 2. The movie debuted with $30 million at the domestic box office and $10.6 million internationally for a combined $40.6 million. In the No 4 spot was Universal's Split; dropping just 35.4% with $9.3 million as its domestic total climbs to $112.3 million. And in the No 5 spot was Hidden Figures - earning $8 million with a domestic total now at an impressive $131.4 million.

Deadline reports that talks between Will Smith and Disney have ended and Smith will not be starring in Dumbo, the Tim Burton-directed live-action adaptation of the classic 1941 animated film. The report states Smith didn’t commit for “usual reasons” that include salary and scheduling.

Universal Pictures announced Friday that Joel and Ethan Coen have come in to script the studio’s Scarface remake, with THR also reporting that Hell or High Water director David Mackenzie and Patriot’s Day director Peter Berg are in talks with Universal to helm the movie. It was recently revealed that Magnificent Seven director Antoine Fuqua had dropped out of directing in order to finish work on the Equalizer sequel, with Diego Luna also revealed to be attached to star.

Michael Douglas has confirmed via his Facebook page that he will indeed reprise his role as Hank Pym in Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp. He confirmed his involvement with a picture taken in front of the original Ant-Man poster, saying: “Need to start growing the goatee now.”

John Boyega recently offered up our first look at his character Jake in Pacific Rim: Uprising and now we’ve got a look at the redesigns for the new and improved Jaegers from the movie. Boyega plays Jake Pentecosts, the next generation of badass kaiju-fighting humans who are charged with protecting the human race. Uprising is currently filming and will hit theatres on February 23, 2018.

Thanks to an announcement from John Carpenter on his Facebook page, David Gordon Green has come on board to direct a rebooted Halloween for Miramax Pictures; with a release date now set for October 19, 2018. Gordon Green, whose credits include Stronger, Our Brand Is Crisis and Pineapple Express is teaming with Danny McBride to write the script.

Yesterday, Kevin Smith took to his Facebook page to offer up an update on his View Askew Universe. While there was some movement on a Clerks 3 and Mallrats 2, it appears now those projects are no longer moving forward. One project that is moving forward however, is a sequel to Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Smith revealed on Facebook that last month he began writing a script entitled: Jay and Silent Bob Reboot.

THR reports that Deadthstroke himself, Joe Manganiello and Marley Shelton are in negotiations to join Dwayne Johnson in Rampage, New Line’s adventure project based on the 1980s video game. Brad Peyton is directing the movie, which reunites Johnson, Peyton and producer Beau Flynn, the team behind San Andreas and Journey 2: The Mysterious Island. New Line will release the film that will, of course, feature a transformed gorilla, crocodile and wolf wreaking havoc on North American cities and landmarks. The movie is set for an April 20, 2018, release.

We recently learned that producer Adi Shankar has been working on an animated adaptation of the Castlevania video game series for Netflix and now, thanks to a report from Dave Trumbore at Collider.com, that might not be the only animated offering Shankar has up his sleeve. The producer shared an update on a possible Dredd sequel, hinting that it’s going to happen one way or another, even if it’s not live-action.

STX Entertainment has released a new trailer for The Circle. Based on the novel of the same name by Dave Eggers, the film stars Emma Watson as a young woman who joins a social media company run by a charismatic figure (Tom Hanks) who encourages his employees to live their lives with complete transparency. The film opens on April 28th and also stars John Boyega, Karen Gillan, Patton Oswalt, and Bill Paxton.

After a series of cinematic black-and-white stills were teased by James Mangold for his upcoming Wolverine sequel Logan, the first trailer revealed that the movie would in fact be presented in the more conventional color format. However, a new clip from the movie suggests that some portions of the film might be in black and white - perhaps acting as flashback sequences for Hugh Jackman’s title character.
