Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have released the new Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer after debuting it last night at Cinema Con, Las Vegas. The two minute and forty second look gives us more in the way of action, with Michael Keaton’s Adrian Toomes AKA Vulture also given more in the way of his motivation, with a lot more insight into Peter Parker’s struggles with what it means to be a hero in the eyes of Tony Stark. Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Zendaya, Jon Favreau, Donald Glover and Tyne Daly. Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into theatres on July 7, 2017.

Deadline is reporting that Jason Bourne director Paul Greengrass is in talks to helm the movie entitled Ness, a film based on famed Prohibition agent Eliot Ness. LA Confidential writer Brian Helgeland has already penned the screenplay that is based on the Brian Michael Bendis and Marc Andreyko graphic novel Torso, which is about Ness’ hunt for America’s first serial killer. Paramount is hoping for this to be the start of a potential franchise, and are looking to start filming this fall.

Vanity Fair has debuted the first Lara Croft photos and synopsis from the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot. Featuring Academy Award winner Alicia Vikander as the title hero, the detailed plot synopsis was released yesterday.

Director James Gunn has taken to his twitter account to share all new international posters for his upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2. The movie is right around the corner and for the fans eager to see the return to the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the marketing push now seems to be in full swing. The film marks the return of the original Guardians, including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper; with Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan and Pom Klementieff also joining their ranks. The movie is set to hit theatres on May 5th, 2017.

Variety reports that Straight Outta Compton’s O’Shea Jackson Jr. is in negotiations to join Legendary’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The movie already stars Stranger Things stand-out Millie Bobby Brown, along with Kyle Chandler and Vera Farmiga. Krampus helmer Michael Dougherty is directing the project from a script he penned with Zach Shields. Godzilla: King of Monsters will hit theaters on March 22nd, 2019, with Godzilla vs. Kong slated to bow the following year on May 29, 2020.

1) First full trailer released for Justice League

2) Joseph Gordon-Levitt in talks to direct/star in R rated musical ‘Wingmen’ with Channing Tatum

3) Box Office Report

4) Robert Rodriguez in talks for Escape from New York reboot

5) New trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean Dead Men Tell No Tales

6) 3 new posters released for Spider-Man Homecoming

Warner Bros. has released the very first Justice League trailer, finally giving fans a look at the assembled team in action – minus Superman. Though we were treated to all new looks of Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, the Flash and Cyborg fighting the parademons from Apokolips, we did not see any hint of the villain known as Steppenwolf. The trailer also revealed our first look at Amber Heard as Queen Mera, Billy Crudup as Barry Allen’s father in jail and J.K. Simmons’ Commissioner Gordon.

According to Variety, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is eyeing a return to the director’s chair by taking on a movie musical with Channing Tatum starring alongside. Sources for Variety say that Gordon-Levitt is in early negotiations to direct and star with Tatum in Universal’s R-rated musical comedy entitled Wingmen.

It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report. Disney’s Beauty and Beast dominated the box office again, taking in another huge $88.3 million for the No 1 spot the second weekend in a row. Domestically it’s made $315 million in just ten days and added another $119.2 million from overseas bringing its worldwide total to $690.3 million. Finishing in the No 2 spot was Saban’s Power Rangers. Its first weekend in release brought in an estimated $40.5 million, beating industry expectations. Kong: Skull Island took the No 3 spot with $14.4 million bringing its domestic total to $133.5 million. Finishing at the No 4 spot was Sony's R-rated sci-fi thriller Life; pulling in an underwhelming $12.6 million, well below industry forecasts. And rounding out the top five was Fox's Logan, which brought in $10.1 million, pushing its domestic total over $200 million.

BUY OR SELL

According to THR, 20th Century Fox is eyeing Sin City director Robert Rodriguez to helm their remake of John Carpenter’s action classic Escape From New York. The 1981 film starred Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken and was set in an alternate U.S. future in which NYC has been transformed into a maximum-security prison.

A new Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales trailer surfaced online this past weekend, giving us some new moments with franchise newcomers Kaya Scodelario and Brenton Thwaites. The movie sees down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow up against deadly ghost pirates led by Javier Bardem’s Captain Salazar, as they escape from the Devil’s Triangle determined to kill every pirate at sea.

Sony Pictures has released three new posters for Spider-Man: Homecoming, touting the web-crawler’s long anticipated MCU debut. The posters show the future Avenger with Avengers Tower in the background, and were tweeted out from the film’s official twitter account along with the tagline: "Homework can wait. The city can’t."

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (March 24th, 2017) Dennis Tzeng, Perri Nemiroff, John Rocha, David Griffin, Sinead DeVries and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

1) Bob Iger reveals Han Solo’s age and details what happens after Episode 9

2) Chris Evans open to playing Captain America after Avengers 4

3) Brad Pitt was up for Cable in Deadpool 2

4) Justice League teasers and posters released

5) New Alien Covenant poster released

6) Transformers: The Last Knight IMAX poster

7) Brett Ratner calls Rotten Tomatoes the worst thing to happen to movies

8) Mail Bag

In a new interview with Disney CEO Bob Iger, held at the recent USC Tech Conference, some new information was revealed about the Star Wars franchise post Episode 9 as well as the age range of Han we’ll see in the Young Han Solo movie. In regards to the Skywalker saga, Iger revealed that Disney and Lucasfilm are only now starting to talk about what could happen after Episode 9; with Iger saying there could be another decade and a half of future Star Wars stories. The executive also revealed new details about the Young Han Solo movie, saying the film will span Solo’s years from age 18 to 24, how he meets Chewbacca and how he finds his ship the Millennium Falcon.

After speaking with Esquire Magazine and telling them it would probably be his last time as Captain America when his contract is up after Avengers 4, Chris Evans seemingly changed his tune when Collider’s own Christina Radish asked him the very same question.

BUY OR SELL

Just as Michael Shannon was revealed to be the new front-runner to play Cable in Deadpool 2, Collider.com has offered up a new detail in the casting process for the movie: Brad Pitt was also in contention for the role. Sources tell Collider.com that in casting Cable, Pitt was seriously considering taking on the role, though he has since moved on.

Warner Bros and DC Films have begun the marketing push for Justice League by releasing a set of posters and short teasers ahead of the trailer’s Saturday debut.

A new poster has been released for Alien: Covenant and it’s a reminder to fans that the eighth film to feature the xenomorph is a return to its horror roots.

Paramount Pictures has released a new IMAX poster for Transformers The Last Knight, offering up a few hints as to how all the different time frames and stories will ultimately connect. The poster evokes the Arthurian legend while revealing, what seems, both an Autobot and Decepticon leading their armies against each other.

A fresh Rotten Tomatoes score has become a highly coveted aspect of movie marketing but that doesn’t mean everyone in the industry has to like it. That goes for Tower Heist director and Revenant producer Brett Ratner. The director was recently at the Sun Valley Film Festival when he got to talking to EW about the review aggregator site.

According to THR, Sony is expanding its Spider-Man Universe of spin-off films, hiring Thor: Ragnarok writer Chris Yost to pen the screenplay that will be centered on Spider-Man frenemies Silver Sable and Black Cat. While the studio is already in deep development on the villain off-shoot Venom, this new project is a high priority for the studio, and is hoping to go out to directors soon with an eye on a fall start date. There are still no concrete details as to how the universe will shake out at Sony however, THR’s film reporter Borys Kit tweeted confirmation that the new movies are not connected to the MCU and Kevin Feige is not involved.

According to THR, Michael Shannon has emerged as the front-runner for the role of Cable in the David Leitch directed Deadpool 2. Though the report cautions that Shannon is not the only one being considered, it does go on to say that he is the one leading the pack at this time. Fox’s surprise blockbuster that grossed $783 million worldwide will see the return of Ryan Reynolds as the Merc with the Mouth, with the story expanding to include other characters from Deadpool’s corner of Marvel’s X-Men universe. Deadpool 2 is now scheduled to shoot this summer in Vancouver though a release date has not been determined.

According to THR, Radar Pictures is developing a film about the Chicago Cubs' dramatic 2016 World Series victory. Based on retired catcher David Ross’ memoir 'Teammate: My Journey in Baseball and a World Series for the Ages,' the film will recall some of the more important moments in Ross’ 15-year career that ultimately centers on his final game - where he became the oldest player to homer in a Game 7 of the World Series.

DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox have released the very first trailer for the upcoming Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie. Based on the bestselling book series, the comedy is voiced by Kevin Hart, Ed Helms and Thomas Middleditch and tells the story of two overly imaginative pranksters named George and Harold, who hypnotize their principal into thinking he’s the dimwitted superhero named Captain Underpants.

Paramount has released a new trailer for Baywatch, offering up everything you might want to see in an R-rated, summer comedy.

Paramount Pictures has released a new five-minute clip from Ghost in the Shell showing off the films amazing visuals and stunning sci-fi effects. Based on the acclaimed sci-fi manga and animated movie, the new film follows the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid who leads the elite task force Section 9.

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (March 22nd, 2017) Perri Nemiroff, Jeremy Jahns, Mark Ellis, Jon Schnepp, Ashley Mova and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

1) Studios might offer first release movies at home for $30 dollars

2) Beauty and the Beast might get a prequel or spin-off

3) Woody Harrelson says Han Solo movie will be best Star Wars movie

4) Multiple Ghostbusters movies are still in development, says Ivan Reitman

5) Princesses movie being shopped as Avengers for fairy tales

6) Rhett Reese confirm Deadpool 3 and X-Force as separate movies

7) Mail Bag

8) Live Twitter

According to a report from Variety, six of the seven biggest Hollywood studios are continuing to push to offer movies at home, weeks after their theatrical debuts with a new $30 dollar priced rental on the table. Of the major studios, Fox and Warner Bros. are showing the most flexibility about the release window, with Fox and even Universal both feeling that the $50 dollar price tag is too steep a price to ask consumers to pay.

Walt Disney Pictures’ Beauty and the Beast just broke the March box office record with a $174.8 million dollar opening, and will soon cross the $400 million global box office. Naturally, fans are wondering if that could mean a sequel is on the way. According to a new Deadline interview with president of production Sean Bailey, a sequel is not in the cards. Speaking about that fact, Bailey did state that Disney is willing to explore “possible spinoffs and prequel scenarios” for Beauty and the Beast in the future but no concrete plans have been reached at this time.

In an exclusive interview with Collider’s own Aubrey Page, Woody Harrelson was chatting about his recent role in the Daniel Clowes adaptation entitled Wilson when the conversation naturally turned to his role in the upcoming Star Wars spin-off centered around Young Han Solo. Harrelson spoke of the positive vibes he’s feeling about the film’s directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller.

In a recent interview with io9 to promote a new Ghostbusters VR experience, original Ghostbuster director Ivan Reitman revealed that even though the Ghostbusters reboot didn’t hit it big with audiences and critics, plans are still on for another movie and shared universe of movies in the future; starting with an animated movie.

According to a report from The Tracking Board, Paradigm’s David Boxerbaum and veteran lit manager Jake Wagner are shopping around a new movie entitled Princesses, a film being described as a female-driven Avengers style movie featuring classic fairy tale princesses. Nir Paniry, who previously wrote and directed the low-budget sci-fi flick Extracted, wrote the script that is garnering a lot of attention from all the major studios. The script is being sent to all buyers simultaneously, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales director Joachim Ronning is attached to the package for Disney.

As Deadpool 2 was gearing up to begin production, word broke that 20th Century Fox was already developing a Deadpool 3, said to be featuring some members of the mutant task force known as X-Force.

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (March 21st, 2017) John Campea, Kristian Harloff, Schnepp, Perri Nemiroff, Ashley Mova and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

1) Joe Manganiello unsure he’ll be Deathstroke in The Batman

2) Robert Downey Jr. to star in Voyage of Doctor Dolittle

3) Opening This Week

4) Tom Cruise has been training for Mission Impossible 6 stunt for over a year

5) Live action Mulan may not be a musical

6) Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis in talks for Lionsgate’s The Spy Who Dumped Me

7) Mail Bag

8) Live Twitter Questions

Now that things have somewhat settled with The Batman and Matt Reeves has signed on to direct, the question turns to Joe Manganiello’s involvement as Deathstroke. Appearing as a guest on Pittsburgh Today’s live morning show promoting the new Smurfs movie, Manganiello was briefly questioned about his role and asked if he was still playing the part; in which Manganiello responded with a simple “Umm. Maybe. We’ll see.” As of now, The Batman is currently without a release date.

THR reports that Universal Pictures has landed the rights to the Doctor Dolittle character and has set Robert Downey Jr. to star with Stephen Gaghan on board to write and direct. Entitled The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, the movie will utilize story elements from the 1920s series of children’s books authored by Hugh Lofting. Doctor Dolittle first hit the bit screen in the 1967 musical Doctor Dolittle and followed the eccentric Doctor John Dolittle, a former physician who lives with and treats animals, claiming that he can communicate with them.

In a recent interview with Skydance Media CEO David Ellison at SXSW, Collider’s own Steve Weintraub was discussing Ellison’s latest movie Life when the conversation turned to the sixth entry in the Mission Impossible franchise. Ellison said that filming on the sequel begins on April 10th and will be shooting in Paris, London, and New Zealand. When asked what kind of stunt they had planned as the centerpiece this time around, Ellison revealed that Tom Cruise has already been training since Rogue Nation came out.

In a recent interview with Vulture, president of Motion Picture Production over at Disney, Sean Bailey, offered up some new details about the Mulan remake which recently hired Whale Rider’s Nikki Caro to direct. Unlike Beauty and the Beast and the upcoming Aladdin movie, which are both musicals, Bailey revealed that the Mulan movie isn’t currently planned as a musical adaptation, but as bit of a tougher, “fresh take on female empowerment.”

Deadline is reporting that Lionsgate is in talks with Kate McKinnon and Mila Kunis to star in The Spy Who Dumped Me, an Imagine Entertainment comedy directed by Susanna Fogel. McKinnon and Kunis will play best friends who unwittingly become entangled in an international conspiracy when one of the women discover their boyfriend who dumped her was actually a spy.
