THR is reporting that Split and The Witch’s Anya Taylor-Joy and Games of Thrones’ Maisie Williams have signed on to star in Josh Boone’s X-Men spin-off New Mutants. The movie is headed towards an early July start with a script by Boone and his writing partner, Knate Gwaltney. The movie will focus on the adventures of a group of mutant teens that include Danielle Moonstar, Wolfsbane, Sunspot, Cannonball and Magik’ along with an alien named Warlock. Taylor-Joy will play Magik, a girl who has learned sorcery and uses teleportation discs to travel while Williams will play Wolfsbane, a girl struggling to reconcile her religious beliefs as her powers of turning into a wolf develop. The movie is dated for an April 13, 2018 release.

As we gear up for the release of Wonder Woman, fans of Diana Prince’s big screen debut are now turning to early box office tracking hoping that the first female driven superhero movie is a box office hit. Both THR and Deadline are reporting a $65 million debut, with some industry experts saying it could likely climb to $75 million closer to release. The Wrap is also saying a majority of “independent trackers” have it in the $65 million range, noting one outlying service projecting a whopping $105 million debut. We won’t have long to wait to find out how it does in theatres when Wonder Woman debuts on June 2nd.

20th Century Fox has revealed a new Alien: Covenant clip featuring Demian Bichir’s character’s first encounter with a facehugger. Ridley Scott returns to the universe he created with this new chapter in the Alien franchise that stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Billy Crudup, Danny McBride, Demián Bichir and James Franco. The marketing is now kicking into high gear as the movie readies its theatrical debut a week from today on May 19th.

Bloom and the Fyzz Facility Pictures announced Thursday that the long delayed sequel to The Strangers 2 has finally found its cast, adding Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks to star alongside Bailee Madison and Lewis Pullman. The announcement comes nine years after the original The Strangers hit theatres in 2008, picking up where Liv Tyler and Scott Speedman’s original left off. The story will see Hendricks and her family terrorized by three masked figures at an abandoned trailer park during a cross-country road trip gone wrong.

Paramount has released one final red band trailer for its big screen reboot of Baywatch. Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Zac Efron lead the cast of the new movie based on the original show that ran between 1989 and 2001 that starred David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson. The trailer showcases some of the new action and fight scenes that will be center of the movie along with the crude humor that makes it a solid R Rated flick.

Deadline is reporting 12 Years A Slave helmer Steve McQueen will direct a full length feature documentary on the life of iconic hip hop star Tupac Shakur. McQueen, who won the Oscar for the Best Picture winner 12 Years A Slave will direct and Jayson Jackson will produce with Nigel Sinclair, the man behind a number of music documentaries including the most recent The Beatles: Eight Days A Week–The Touring Years. No word yet on a start of production or release.
