Warner Bros. released a new Ready Player One trailer yesterday, giving us an even better look the upcoming film that was tailor made for Steven Spielberg. Packed with 80’s nostalgia and a seemingly endless amount of Easter Eggs found in the new trailer – could this be the return to form for Steven Spielberg, who’s beloved films (mostly) came from the 80’s and 90’s?

In a new report from The Wall Street Journal, Sony Pictures back in 1998 passed on purchasing the entire Marvel character catalogue for a price described as “dirt cheap.” The characters that ultimately made up the current MCU, was offered to Sony by Marvel while negotiations were underway to bring Spider-Man to the screen.

RT Features and A24 are behind the project, which will head into production this spring from a script by Robert and Max Eggers, with a story set in the world of old sea-faring myths.

Amazon Studios and STX Films have released the final trailer for the upcoming dark comedy Gringo. Directed by Nash Edgerton, the film stars David Oyelowo as a mild-mannered American businessman facing crushing debt who ventures to Mexico to hand-deliver a formula for a revolutionary new weed pill to a lab.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined the cast of Kung Fury, the feature-length follow-up to the cult 2015 short that will star Michael Fassbender; with the trade reporting that Schwarzenegger will play the American president.

One of the biggest stories of last year came in May when it was reported that Zack Snyder was stepping away from Justice League after a family tragedy. Joss Whedon took over directing duties and the rest, as they say, is history. Veteran entertainment reporter Josh L. Dickey however, recently revealed that he is now leaving the industry and his outlet Mashable, and took to Twitter for one last report - revealing that Snyder was actually fired in January or February of 2017, three months before the news broke that he was leaving Justice League.

According to Variety, Michael Fassbender has signed on to star in David Sandberg’s action-comedy Kung Fury. David Hasselhoff, who was in the original cult short film, is also on board to appear. Released in 2015, Kung Fury was a Kickstarter record-breaking success, and was selected for Cannes Directors Fortnight.

THR reports that Paul King, the director of the two acclaimed Paddington movies, is in final negotiations to direct Willy Wonka, a reimagining of Roald Dahl's classic children's book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory; that’s being developed at Warner Bros.
