A few weeks back The New York Times reported that Daniel Craig would be back for James Bond 25 but in the following weeks, the actor would not confirm if the report was true. Now it looks as though Craig was just waiting for the right time to make his announcement. Last night, Craig went on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and did indeed confirm that he’ll be back as Bond.

When reports first came in about the upcoming Avengers Infinity War and Avengers 4, it was confirmed that most every character that has appeared in the MCU thus far would be a part of the movie. Not so fast says Samuel L Jackson. As the actor explained to Yahoo while promoting his latest, The Hitman’s Bodyguard, it looks as though Jackson’s Nick Fury will not be a part of Infinity War, Avengers 4 and even Black Panther.

In a report coming from Deadline, Marvel has set Gotham City Sirens scribe Geneva Robertson-Dworet to take over and write the script for Captain Marvel. Brie Larson is set to star as Carol Danvers, with the movie being directed by Mississippi Grind’s Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. Previous reports had Meg LeFauve & Nicole Perlman originally writing the script, but LeFauve had to leave to direct the Disney Animation pic Gigantic with Nathan Greno.

STF films has released the first trailer for Molly’s Game; the movie that marks the directorial debut of Oscar-winning The Social Network screenwriter Aaron Sorkin. Sorkin wrote the script for Molly’s Game himself about the true story that sees Jessica Chastain starring as Molly Bloom, an Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game for more than a decade before being arrested in the middle of the night by FBI agents.

THR is reporting that a new cast member will join David Harbour, Milla Jovovich and Ian McShane in the new reboot for Hellboy. The trade reports that American Honey's breakout star Sasha Lane is now in final negotiations to join the cast. The new story will see our hero Hellboy squaring off against a medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy humankind. Lane will play Alice Monaghan who in the comic books, is rescued by Hellboy from the fairies who kidnapped her; with Monaghan retaining some supernatural gifts because of her time with the fairies.

Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for mother! The upcoming horror film stars Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem, with a story involving a couple whose weekend is disturbed by the announcement of some unwelcome guests, played by Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Tragic news coming out of the filming of Deadpool 2. Early Monday morning, a stunt person identified as Joi “SJ” Harris, was killed on the set after a trick involving a motorcycle went wrong. Deadline reports that she was the first African-American female professional road racer and that Deadpool 2 was her first movie working as a stunt performer. Reports state that before the accident, she had successfully pulled off the stunt five times and practiced all day on Saturday, but on the final take, the accident occurred. Star Ryan Reynolds took to social media yesterday to share his thoughts on the tragedy saying:

“Today we tragically lost a member of our crew while filming Deadpool. We’re heartbroken, shocked and devastated.. but recognize nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel at this moment. My heart pours out to them – along with each and every person she touched in this world.”

Variety is reporting that Anya Taylor-Joy, the breakout star of The Witch and this past January’s Split, is in talks to reteam with her Witch director Robert Eggers for a new take on the cinematic classic Nosferatu. Eggers is writing and directing the movie which will be based on the 1922 silent movie that followed the vampire Count Orlok of Transylvania, who wants to buy a house in Germany and becomes enamored of the real-estate agent’s wife.

Lionsgate Premiere has released the first Rememory trailer online. Directed by Mark Palansky, the film revolves around the mysterious death of a scientific pioneer who creates technology that allows you to extract memories and watch them on an external device. Peter Dinklage plays a man who shows up and sets about trying to solve the murder using this memory machine, which allows him to watch memories from other people as well. As the investigation continues, a web of intrigue and deceit is uncovered.

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (Monday August 14th, 2017) Mark Ellis, Jeremy Jahns, Jon Schnepp, Perri Nemiroff, Ashley Mova and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

-Tom Cruise injured on set of Mission Impossible 6

-Ben Affleck calls Justice League interesting movie by 2 directors; says DCEU is getting it right

-Sony drops Bad Boys For Life from schedule; dates Sicario 2 and Spidey spin-off Silver & Black

-Box Office Report

-Leonardo DiCaprio to make Leonardo Da Vinci biopic at Paramount

-Maz Kanata to have even smaller role in The Last Jedi

-Live Twitter Questions

While rumors have started to paint Justice League as a mess because of the reshoots and loss of original director Zack Snyder, the Caped Crusader himself Ben Affleck is telling a different story about the production and movie, with an added assertion that the DCEU is hitting their stride. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly about the movie, Affleck said that Justice League is an “interesting product of two directors, both with unique visions and really strong takes,” while also stating that he’s never had an experience like this making a movie.

THR late Friday announced the slate of release dates for Sony’s upcoming line-up of movies. First up their Spider-Man shared universe, which will start with Venom next October, now has a date for its other spinoff Silver & Black. The film will now open on February 8th, 2019, four months after Venom. Sony also confirmed that Anne Hathaway will star in Barbie, moving the film back a few weeks to August 8th, 2018. In addition, Sony and Black Label Media's Sicario 2: Soldado, the follow-up to Denis Villeneuve's 2015 film, will open on June 29th, 2018.

BOX OFFICE REPORT

Deadline is reporting that Paramount Pictures has won a bidding war with Universal Pictures and obtained the rights to Walter Isaacson’s book Leonardo da Vinci; and signing on Leonardo DiCaprio to star. The movie adaptation will see DiCaprio’s Appian Way produce as well, with the story based on thousands of pages from Leonardo Da Vinci’s astonishing notebooks along with new discoveries about his life and work, including the creation of two of his most famous paintings in history: The Last Supper and the Mona Lisa.

The final Entertainment Weekly report for The Last Jedi dropped Friday afternoon, and this time it was about Lupita Nyong’o’s Maz Kanata. The character made her appearance, albeit in only a few short scenes in The Force Awakens, and now it appears she will have even less time on screen in the sequel.

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (Friday August 11th, 2017) Dennis Tzeng, Perri Nemiroff, John Rocha, David Griffin, Sinead DeVries and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

-Josh Brolin turned down Avatar sequels and James Cameron was pissed

-EW reveals details about Leia and Benicio del Toro’s part in The Last Jedi

-B.P.R.D. to appear in Hellboy reboot – now the movie is simply titled: Hellboy

-Arnold says he begins filming new Terminator movie in March of next year

-New photos released for ‘IT’

-Katie Holmes to star in movie version of ‘The Secret’

-Mail Bag

Now that Avatar 2 has begun production, fans can finally look forward to more movies in the Avatar universe. And as far as new characters in the franchise, we don’t have a lot of information – except for some recent comments made by Josh Brolin who revealed that he was offered a role in the Avatar sequels but turned it down. That apparently did not sit well with director James Cameron.

Even more details for The Last Jedi were released yesterday by EW and this time, the spotlight was shined on General Leia and Poe Dameron, along with Benicio del Toro’s mysterious new character DJ.

BUY OR SELL

Yesterday Lionsgate revealed, via a report from MovieWeb, that the upcoming reboot of Hellboy would be changing its title from Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen to simply: Hellboy. As for the movie itself, it was reported earlier that Resident Evil star Mila Jovovich was in talks to play the villain of the movie, but not much else about the reboot is known.

Earlier this year it was reported that the rights to the Terminator franchise would be returning to James Cameron in 2019, with the filmmaker acting as “godfather” for a new installment in which Deadpool director Tim Miller was reportedly in talks to direct. Now, if Arnold Schwarzenegger is to be believed, the next installment could begin shooting as early as next year.

Empire Magazine has debuted two new images from the upcoming adaptation of IT. While images of Pennywise the clown have only been featured in a few spreads from EW, the character has really only been featured in the marketing material and mostly hidden in shadows, or featured in quick shots. The new images now give us a closer and more terrifying look at Pennywise, showing fans of the novel just exactly what the Losers Club will be up against.

Covert Media’s CEO Paul Hanson recently revealed that Katie Holmes has signed on to star in a feature film adaptation of The Secret that is to be directed by Sweet Home Alabama’s Andy Tennant. The movie is based on the best-selling book by Rhonda Byrne, in which a hard-working young widow with three children hires a handyman to fix her house during a terrible storm.

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (Thursday August 10th, 2017) Mark Ellis, Clarke Wolfe, Jon Schnepp, Perri Nemiroff, Natasha Martinez and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

-Star Wars The Last Jedi EW cover spread reveals new plot details

-Riz Ahmed in talks to join Tom Hardy in Sony’s Venom

-Opening This Week

-Blade Runner gets R Rating

-Deadpool director Tim Miller to adapt Neuromancer for Fox

-Mail Bag

-Live Twitter Questions

EW yesterday revealed their huge spread of The Last Jedi photos that gave us all new looks at Luke, Rey, Kylo Ren, Finn, Poe and General Leia. While the photos also showed off new locations like casino planet Canto Bight, new vehicles like Kylo Ren’s Tie-Silencer and Snoke’s Samurai like protectors The Praetorian Guards, the articles accompanying the images also revealed new plot details we can expect to see in the movie. Perhaps the most interesting came in the article about Rey and Luke, where it revealed a bit of Luke’s backstory on why he decided to become a hermit on the planet Ahch-To.

According to Variety, Riz Ahmed is in early talks to join Tom Hardy in Sony’s Venom movie. Ruben Fleischer is directing the spinoff of the Spider-Man franchise, with details about Ahmed’s character currently unknown, though sources for Variety say he will be playing a popular Marvel Comic character in the film. Speculation has already begun to swirl around the Rogue One actor’s casting, with many suggesting the role could be that of Carnage, which THR previously revealed would be the antagonist of the movie.

We now know for certain that Blade Runner 2049 will follow its predecessor, Blade Runner, by giving the movie an R Rating. Anticipation for the sci-fi sequel is especially high for fans of the original ever since Sicario and Arrival filmmaker Denis Villeneuve signed on to helm. The movie was officially given the rating yesterday for “violence, some sexuality, nudity, and language.”

Deadline is reporting that Deadpool director Tim Miller has signed on to direct an adaptation of the 1984 sci-fi novel Neuromancer for Fox, with longtime X-Men producer Simon Kinberg on board to produce. While a writer has not been set for the movie, it will be based on the novel written by William Gibson and tells the story of Henry Dorsett Case, a disgraced computer hacker living in Japan who was punished for stealing from his employer by being rendered unable to access The Matrix, a worldwide virtual reality network.
