Breaking last night and shared on his Facebook account, Hellboy creator Mike Mignola announced that Stranger Thing’s David Harbour is in talks to star in an R Rated Hellboy reboot directed by The Decent and Game of Thrones’ director Neil Marshall. The project goes by the working title of Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen and has a script by Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden and Mignola. Both Guillermo del Toro and original Hellboy star Ron Perlman are not involved in the project. Marshall is now developing a new script with Aron Coleite, who worked on NBC's Heroes and is also working on the new Star Trek: Discovery series. No release date has been set.

Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment unveiled the very first trailer for Blade Runner 2049, the highly anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1980’s sci-fi classic. Directed by Arrival and Sicario filmmaker Denis Villeneuve, 2049 takes place 30 years after the events of the first film and stars Ryan Gosling as a new blade runner, LAPD Officer K, who unearths a secret that leads him on a quest to find Rick Deckard, played by Harrison Ford.

Variety is reporting that Russell Crowe is in talks to play legendary attorney Clarence Darrow alongside David Oyelowo in Arc of Justice for the Mark Gordon Company, directed by Narcos helmer Jose Padilha. Based on Kevin Boyle’s book “Arc of Justice: A Saga of Race, Civil Rights, and Murder in the Jazz Age,” the true story centers on a racial incident in 1925 Detroit that put African American doctor Ossian Sweet on the stand for murder; with his defense funded by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People led by Darrow.

Paramount Pictures released a new clip from their upcoming Transformers The Last Knight. The clip features an old World War II tank Transformer trying to shoot at Mark Wahlberg’s Cade Yaeger character; with Anthony Hopkins’ character claiming the tank has “robot dementia.”

A new trailer has been release for Absolutely Anything, a comedy that stars Simon Pegg and Robin Williams as the voice of his faithful dog. The movie also has the distinction of being one of the last feature films to feature the Monty Python crew working together.

It’s been six years since Joe Cornish’s Attack The Block came out in cinemas and now, via a report from The Playlist, Cornish is finally set to direct his sophomore film, The Kid Who Would Be King. Word broke about the project from casting director Jessica Ronane, who posted the announcement on Twitter. Cornish will team with Working Title for the film described as “a family fantasy action-adventure movie about a band of young kids embarking on an epic quest.

Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment debuted the final trailer for Wonder Woman last night during the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can help stop the threat of war. Fighting alongside man, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny. Wonder Woman will finally hit theatres on June 2nd.

In a recent interview with Collider.com, director Doug Liman was discussing his upcoming movie The Wall when talk turned to the long-discussed sequel to the sci-fi film Edge of Tomorrow. Asked if he was still looking to make Edge of Tomorrow 2, Liman confirmed there was movement on a second movie in the franchise, revealing not only that Emily Blunt is coming back for the film but that it also has a title.

It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report. With an estimated $145 million, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 easily took the No 1 spot at the box office on its opening weekend. The Marvel sequel expanded overseas as well bringing in an estimated $123.8 million for a global total of $427.6 million in just 13 days. After three weeks in the No 1 spot, The Fate of the Furious slides to No 2 with an estimated $8.5 million, pushing its domestic total to over $205 million. Fox's The Boss Baby took the No 3 spot with $6.2 million, with a total domestic gross now at $156 million. At No 4 is How to be a Latin Lover, dropping 57% in its second weekend with an estimated $5.25 million. And rounding out the top five is Disney's Beauty and the Beast with an estimated $4.9 million as its domestic total now stands at $487.5 million.

Another movie getting some exposure during last night’s MTV Movie and TV Awards was New Line Cinema’s IT. A new trailer debuted during the awards, shining a light this time on the kids in the movie that Pennywise the clown will stalk and terrify in the first installment of a planned two-part adaptation.

Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios revealed a new Spider-Man: Homecoming sneak peek at the MTV Movie & TV Awards last night. Showing how Peter Parker, played by Tom Holland, has his work cut out for him as both a high school student and new, active superhero, the new footage also delves into Peter’s relationship with his friends.

Deadline is reporting that Paramount Pictures has acquired an untitled pitch for a comedy that will star Will Ferrell and Aquaman‘s Jason Momoa. Described as Galaxy Quest meets Ocean’s Eleven, Ferrell will play a washed-up TV star that reunites with his now grown TV show son, played by Momoa, who has become a huge star.

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (Thursday May 4th, 2017) John Campea, Kristian Harloff, Jeremy Jahns, Perri Nemiroff, Natasha Martinez and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

1) Gears of War movie moving forward at Universal with Avatar writer

2) Melissa McCarthy to star R rated puppet movie The Happytime Murders

3) Get Out director Jordan Peele locks in next film, also a social thriller

4) First look at Murder on the Orient Express Remake

5) Jeremy Renner to star as Doc Holiday in new movie

6) Extended Wonder Woman tv spot released

7) Mail Bag

8) Live Twitter

Deadline is reporting that Universal Pictures is finally moving forward on its Gears of War adaptation, setting one of the writers on James Cameron’s 4 Avatar movies, Shane Salerno, to pen the script. The movie will not be based on any particular game in the series but will be a new story set in the universe in which a squad of commandos living in a bombed-out post-apocalyptic society battle swarms of alien creatures called Locusts. A release date has not been set.

THR is reporting that Melissa McCarthy is set to star in The Happytime Murders, an edgy R rated puppet comedy from STX Entertainment. Brian Henson is on board to direct the movie that is being billed as an action comedy; with the story taking place in a world where humans and puppets coexist.

As Get Out readies for a home release on May 23rd after racking up $172 million in domestic receipts, THR is reporting that director Jordan Peele has signed a first look deal at Universal, setting his next movie in motion that is an untitled social thriller he’ll write, direct and produce, just as he did with Get Out. No plot details have been revealed but the film will be bigger with a $25 million budget.

BUY OR SELL

Entertainment Weekly has unveiled first look images at the upcoming Murder on the Orient Express remake directed by Kenneth Branagh. The 20th Century Fox film is itself an adaptation of the classic Agatha Christie mystery, assembling a huge, star-studded cast that includes Branagh, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer, Daisy Ridley, Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz and Josh Gad.

According to a report from THR, Jeremy Renner is set to play John Henry ‘Doc’ Holliday in a new film about the legendary gunslinger. PalmStar Media has optioned the rights to two novels entitled Doc: A Novel and Epitaph: A Novel of the O.K. Corral; both of which will be developed into one film. The movie will detail the early days of Holiday in which he comes to the Texas frontier hoping that the dry air and sunshine of the West will restore him to health.

Just as fans were getting antsy for Warner Bros. to kick in their marketing campaign for Wonder Woman, several new tv spots including a new extended one have landed online. The new look features a lot more action, with bits of story mixed in featuring Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince and Chris Pine’s Steve Trevor.
