With Spider-Man Homecoming less than two weeks away, Tom Holland is making the press rounds to promote the movie. And with Sony also developing their own shared universe with the upcoming Venom starring Tom Hardy, fans are hoping to get definitive confirmation that the two will cross over into the same universe. In an exclusive interview with Collider’s own Steve “Frosty” Weintraub, Frosty asked if the two characters are indeed separate universes. Here’s a clip.

Via a report from Slashfilm, Josh Trank is finally moving forward on his follow up to Fantastic Four, hitting Instagram to announce filming on Fonzo – a film adaptation of the life of Al Capone that will star Tom Hardy – will begin production this summer in New Orleans. The movie isn’t a conventional biopic and will instead begin with Capone at age 47 after he spent a decade in prison, with dementia rotting his mind. Once freed, Capone’s past becomes present as memories of his violent and brutal beginnings melt into his waking life. The movie will hit theatres sometime in 2018.

It’s Monday which means it’s time for the weekend box office report. Transformers The Last Knight opened to a franchise low, taking the No 1 spot with $45.3 million over the weekend for a combined $69.1 million over five days. Disney's Cars 3 and DC Film’s Wonder Woman tied for the No 2 and 3 spots, with both studios reporting an estimated $25.175 million weekend. Wonder Woman dropped only 39% in its fourth weekend in release and has a domestic total just shy of $320 million. 47 Meters Down tool the No 4 spot with an estimated $7.4 million, bringing its domestic total to $24 million. And rounding out the top five is Lionsgate's All Eyez On Me. The movie dropped nearly 80% in its second weekend with an estimated $5.85 million as its domestic total now hitting $38.6 million.

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (Friday, June 23rd, 2017) Perri Nemiroff, John Rocha, David Griffin, Ti and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

-Alden Ehrenreich brought his concerns about Han Solo shoot to producers

-Mark Wahlberg thinks Michael Bay will return for Transformers 6

-Eli Roth & Jack Black to team on kids book adaptation of ‘The House With A Clock In Its Walls’

-Neve Campbell joins The Rock in ‘Skyscraper’

In a report from Starwarsnewsnet.com, Young Han Solo himself, Alden Ehrenreich, was one of the first to bring up concerns to producers that the Han Solo movie was heading off course. As was reported by multiple outlets, Lord and Miller’s loose approach on set started to change the story and tone of the movie. It was Ehrenreich who then started to worry about the screwball comedy angle, and felt it was interfering with the character of Han Solo. A source for Starwarsnewnet.com described it as being “oddly comparable to Jim Carrey’s performance in Ace Ventura at times.” Ehrenreich let his concerns be known and Kennedy and Company looked over existing footage.

Michael Bay recently came out saying that Transformers The Last Knight would be his last Transformers movie behind the camera as director. Not so fast, says Mark Wahlberg. In an interview promoting The Last Knight with Comicbook.com, Wahlberg told the outlet he believes there’s more Bayhem left in the director.

According to a report from Deadline, Amblin Entertainment and Mythology Entertainment have set Eli Roth to direct and Jack Black to star in The House With A Clock In Its Walls, an adaptation of the 1973 John Bellairs book. Eric Kripke wrote the script that tells the tale of a recently orphaned 10-year-old boy who discovers a world of hidden passageways, magic and danger in his uncle’s old house.

According to Deadline, Neve Campbell has signed on to co-star with Dwayne the Rock Johnson in Universal Pictures and Legendary’s Skyscraper. In the movie, Johnson plays U.S. war veteran Will Ford, who now assesses security for skyscrapers. On assignment in China he finds the tallest, safest building in the world suddenly ablaze, and he’s been framed for it. As a wanted man on the run, Will must find those responsible and somehow rescue his family who is trapped inside the building, above the fire line.

Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have released the first trailer for the true story drama Stronger. Directed by Pineapple Express’s David Gordon Green, the film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as Jeff Bauman, an ordinary man who became a symbol of heroism and strength after losing both of his legs during the tragic 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Pictures have released the first trailer for Thank You for Your Service, the military drama starring Miles Teller. The film follows a group of U.S. soldiers returning from Iraq who struggle to integrate back into family and civilian life, while living with the memory of a war that threatens to destroy them long after they’ve left the battlefield. The movie features an ensemble cast led by Miles Teller that also includes Haley Bennett and Amy Schumer. American Sniper screenwriter Jason Hall wrote the screenplay and makes his directorial debut, with the movie set for release on October 27th.

Sony is moving full-speed ahead on their Spider-Man spinoff Venom with Tom Hardy signing on to star and Ruben Fleischer on board to direct. While it’s still unclear how Venom’s story will work without connecting to Spider-Man, one thing we do know, according to an in depth article at THR, is that Carnage will be the villain opposite Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock. Also included in the article is word that Sony is also developing films based around Mysterio, a master of illusions, and Kraven the Hunter – a big game hunter who believes Spider-Man is the greatest game in the world. No details about directors or release dates at this time.

A new, in depth look in the form of a featurette has debuted online for Denis Villeneuve’s upcoming Blade Runner 2049. This Sunday will mark the 35th anniversary of the first Blade Runner, and it was EW who unveiled the featurette offering a ton of never-before-seen footage that also includes Villeneuve, Ryan Gosling, Harrison Ford, Jared Leto and Ridley Scott discussing the impact the original film had on Science Fiction and what we can look forward to with 2049. According to a new report from Bleeding Cool, reliable sources for the site claim a new Fantastic Four movie is being developed at 20th Century Fox Studios concentrating on Franklin and Valeria, the children of Reed Richards and Susan Storm; with the Thing and the Human Torch still featuring as the other two members of the team. The current draft is being described as more kid friendly in tone, with Bleeding Cool comparing the approach to Pixar’s The Incredibles. The site also states that Seth Grahame-Smith is penning the script.

After seven years out of the horror game, the Saw franchise is heading back to theaters this fall with its eighth installment in the franchise. The film has been going under the working title Saw: Legacy but just yesterday it was revealed that the official title will now be Jigsaw. Jigsaw, introduced in the first movie in the franchise, was the murderous mastermind behind the varied, horrific traps that saw the end of countless victims throughout its seven movies.

Yesterday Lucasfilm announced that Young Han Solo directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller exited the movie over “creative differences,” with both Lucasfilm and Lord and Miller releasing statements about the split. Variety later reported that Lord and Miller were actually fired from the production after months of conflict with producer Kathleen Kennedy. Now, THR is reporting that the shortlist of directors Lucasfilm is looking at to take the reigns of the troubled production include Ron Howard, Joe Johnston and even Lawrence Kasdan himself.

Coming from a report in Variety, three-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis, is retiring from acting. The 60-year-old star best known for playing Lincoln in Steven Spielberg’s Oscar winning biopic, Bill the Butcher in Scorsese’s Gangs of New York and Daniel Plainview in Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood has one final film awaiting release, an untitled drama set in the world of high fashion. That movie is scheduled to hit theaters on December 25th, 2017; reuniting him with director Anderson.

Wonder Woman is already the best-reviewed film of the DC Extended Universe thus far and soon may become its highest grosser as well. With the film opening to a record $103 million dollars, talk quickly turned to a sequel where it was soon after revealed that director Patty Jenkins hadn’t yet signed on for Part 2.

Though Paul Feig is best known for his comedic movies starring some of the most powerful female comedienne’s in the business, thanks to a report from The Tracking Board, we’re going to get something very different from the director for his next project.
A creepy new trailer for Annabelle: Creation hit online yesterday. The fourth movie released in the Conjuring universe is a spin-off of the original movie, with two more movies in development to follow – The Nun and The Crooked Man; with both entities introduced in the second Conjuring movie.

With the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, Marvel fans are finally getting the biggest MCU release ever put to screen. It’s the culmination of everything we’ve seen since Iron Man debuted in 2008 with a post credit scene teasing the “Avengers Initiative.” And with an all star cast of characters, fans are now wondering – just how big will it be? Scarlett Johansson seems to have an idea.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have announced the star of production on Godzilla 2 and in doing so, confirmed what long-time fans of the series were hoping would happen – the introduction of more monsters from Godzilla’s past. The announcement officially confirmed that not one, not two, but three new monsters will feature in the movie, with the official synopsis also neither confirming nor mentioning the King of Monster subtitle.

Amazon and Roadside Attractions have debuted the very first trailer for The Only Living Boy in New York. The movie sees 500 Days of Summer director Marc Webb returning to his quiet, romantic comedy roots after his two Amazing Spider-Man movies, directing stars Jeff Bridges, Pierce Brosnan, Kate Beckinsale, Kiersey Clemons, Cynthia Nixon and Callum Turner; in a movie about a recent college graduate seeking the guidance of an eccentric neighbor as his life is upended by his father’s mistress. The movie is set to hit theatres on August 11th.

According to a report from THR, new distribution company The H Collective has announced that development has officially begun on xXx 4, with Vin Deisel expected to reprise his role as Xander Cage. The action/adventure franchise made a return to the big screen earlier this year with xXx: Return of Xander Cage. The series found there was still life after thirteen years between movies, with the movie grossing almost $350 million dollars worldwide; despite grossing less than $50 million in the US.
