Avengers Vs X-Men Is Impossible Says Marvel's Kevin Feige - Collider Movie Talk

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (November 23rd, 2016) John Campea, Jeremy Jahns, Kristian Harloff, Jon Schnepp, Ashley Mova and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

-Kevin Feige says Avengers/X-Men crossover is “impossible”

-Lucasfilm mulling only Star Wars Anthology films after Episode IX

-AMC Rewind

-Boba Fett stand alone had a teaser that was cancelled before Star Wars Celebrations.

-Tomb Raider producer reveals origin story plot

-Rogue One tracking for over $130 million

-Highlander reboot in the works with John Wick director Chad Stahelski

-Mail Bag

Just like Disney and Sony did by making a pact to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, some fans have been hoping for a similar arrangement for 20th Century Fox’s X-Men and the Fantastic Four. But unfortunately, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige put the breaks on that talk during a recent interview. While speaking with Variety about the crossover potential, Feige said it's an impossibility at this time.

In a huge write up on Rogue One in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, head of Lucasfilm Kathleen Kennedy was asked if there would be another trilogy of Saga Films after Star Wars: Episode 9 or if the Star Wars universe could exist on “Star Wars Story” anthology films only.

AMC REWIND

WOULD YOU RATHER

With Disney planning on releasing a new Star Wars film every year for the foreseeable future, one such movie the fans have been asking for has been the stand alone Boba Fett movie, rumored to be directed by Josh Trank. Now, EW has confirmed that the film was far enough along that Disney and Lucasfilm even had a teaser ready to screen at Star Wars Celebration 2015 in order to officially announce the project.

In a recent chat with Hey U Guys about his upcoming film Allied, producer Graham King confirmed that the Tomb Raider reboot would be an origin story for Lara Croft. A lot of rumors had pointed to the Tomb Raider franchise going back to the drawing board since the recent video games were rebooted in the same manner.

The early box office tracking numbers for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story are in, and it is very good news for Lucasfilm and Disney. Per THR, the film is expected to hit at least $130 million domestic in its opening weekend on December 16th, with some tracking services even pegging the total as high as $150 million.

While John Wick co-director David Leitch preps his next project in Deadpool 2, co-director Chad Stahelski has his own thing going on with a new reboot of the Highlander franchise. According to THR, Stahelski is on board to direct the film, while the search for a new group of writers has begun to work with the filmmaker. A release date for the movie has not been set.

Will There Ever Be A Walking Dead Movie? - Collider Nightmares

On this week's episode of Collider Nightmares (Wednesday, November 23, 2016) Clarke Wolfe, Mark Reilly, Jon Schnepp and Perri Nemiroff will discuss the following:

-Is A Walking Dead Movie on the Way?

-Sam Raimi Says The Last of Us Feature Adaptation Has Stalled

-Abattoir Trailer and Poster

-M. Night Shyamalan Says TNT’s Tales From The Crypt Goes Back to the Comics

-Channel Zero Season 1 Recap, Season 2 Teaser

-American Horror Story Recap, Possible Season 7 Teaser

-Jump Scares: Why is horror still considered a cinematic black sheep?

-Twitter questions

Fresh Meat:

The Walking Dead is in full swing over on AMC and, of course, the zombie drama shows no signs of slowing down. Already renewed for an eighth season, series creator Robert Kirkman recently revealed that AMC themselves didn’t even know how the show would end and we discussed his comments here on Nightmares. Now, showrunner Scott M. Gimple has added fuel to a different fire, telling ComicBook.com that a feature film would probably happen eventually.

Last week I had the pleasure of attending a luncheon in honor of the Blu-ray release of Don’t Breathe and we thought it would be fun to share some other details of another much-anticipated horror title: the Sam Raimi produced feature film adaptation of the hit video game The Last of Us had entered development hell and “there hasn’t been any work done on it in over a year and a half.”

Now for some completely original horror offerings, from Darren Lynn Bousman, director of Saw 2-4, Repo The Genetic Opera and The Devil’s Carnival comes Abattoir, written by 12 Monkeys scribe Chris Monfette. Abbattoir stars Jessica Lowndes and Lin Shaye and tells the story of “a mysterious man who has been buying houses where tragedies have occurred. Set in a world where it always feels like night, even in daylight hours, real estate reporter Julia Talben’s life is turned upside down when her family is brutally murdered.

What’s In The Box?!:

In an interview with Crave Online and Future Schmoedown Champion William Bibbiani, M. Night Shyamalan gave an update on what fans can expect from his Tales From the Crypt series coming next year to TNT. Shyamalan did confirm that the series would pull directly from the comics and that fans can expect that dark, un-PC sense of humor will be out in full force.

Channel Zero: Candle Cove came to a close last Tuesday night and with it came the first teaser of the follow up season Channel Zero: No-End House. Deadline describes the sophomore season as, “a six-episode stand-alone anthology series, inspired by Brian Russell’s Creepypasta, features Margot Sleator (played by Amy Forsyth), a young woman who visits the No-End House, a bizarre house of horrors that consists of a series of increasingly disturbing rooms.

American Horror Story: Roanoke came to a close last week and with that came a little piece of viral marketing, possibly for the already-greenlit seventh season of Ryan Murphy’s anthology horror show. A quick video of ocean waves crashing with the words “Sweet Dreams” over them and the caption “The monsters are all gone” below, intercut with images of the weird wooden dolls from Roanoke, that quickly returned to ocean waves appeared online.

Jump Scares: Horror’s influence on film (creatively and financially) is undeniable. Though after a century, still the black sheep. Why?

Ben Wheatley up for “Hard Boiled”!

Yes, Corvis, dreams do come true! News of Ben Wheatley (Kill List, HighRise) adapting and directing Frank Miller and Geof Darrow’s classic comic book “Hard Boiled” with none other than Tom Hiddleston playing the lead character Nixon. This classic 1990 scifi hyper violent noir about a cyborg who has lost his own identity is the perfect vehicle for Ben Wheatley!

Deadpool 2 Director Announced!

John Wick co-director David Lietch has been selected to helm the sequel to the breakout smash hit Deadpool. With Ryan Reynolds having replaced Tim Miller in the drivers seat, should we expect a different kind of Deadpool?

Green Hornet reboot in the works!

This is news that warms my geeky nerdy sweaty heart! Longtime fan and amazingly talented filmmaker Gavin O Connor is going to reboot The Green Hornet. Gavin said “I’ve been wanting to make this movie — and create this franchise — since I’ve wanted to make movies, “As a kid, when most of my friends were into Superman and Batman, there was only one superhero who held my interest — The Green Hornet". If anyone can do this justice I believe this is the right person

Green Lantern Corps appears in Justice League

News from the Wrap stated "a member of the Green Lantern Corps will be seen in Justice League in a key sequence.” Will this be the corp or just one Lantern. Is this a smart move?

The Crow Flies the Coop Again!

This troubled franchise jumps from Studio to Studio, actor to Actor, Director to Director. Well here we go again. the Crow has gone from Relativity to Davis Films, as the previous studio battles financial problems. Is now titled The Crow Reborn, is Jason Momoa still going to be Eric Draven?

Minor Mutations

Disney and Pixar have unveiled their first teaser trailer for Cars 3. The first look doesn’t offer much by way of plot or dialogue however, it does show a dramatic twist in the Lightning McQueen story that is at the center of the story. The film marks the directorial debut of Brian Fee, an animator and storyboard artist on films like Wall-E and Monsters University. Cars 3 opens in theaters on June 16, 2017.

Michael Bay took to Facebook live yesterday to respond to some fan questions about when we might be able to expect the first trailer for his upcoming fifth film in the Transformers franchise, The Last Knight. He then confirmed that the teaser for the 2017 release will be playing in front of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Netflix released the long awaited trailer for Lemony Snickets: a Series of Unfortunate Events complete with the weirdness, the costumery and nuance you’d expect.

Marvel is bringing the Inhumans to Television at ABC in the summer of 2017, but before they hit the small screen they will debut 2 full episodes shot exclusively on IMAX cameras, paid for by IMAX and debut them on IMAX theatres nationwide. After the IMAX premiere ABC will air 8 total episodes of the series, which will hopefully tie into the Agents of SHIELD, my favorite show next to Pretty Little Liars.

Y: The Last Man fans let out a collective cheer when news that American Gods’ Michael Green would step on board as showrunner, which means we may actually see the series come to fruition! Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, who most recently produced The People VS. OJ Simpson for FX will join the series as producers.

Jason Momoa Leaving The Crow Reboot? - Collider Movie Talk

On this episode of Collider Movie Talk (November 18th, 2016) Dennis Tzeng, John Rocha, Perri Nemiroff, Sinead DeVries and Wendy Lee discuss the following:

-The Crow reboot may lose Jason Momoa

-New clip released for Passengers

-New featurette released for Rogue One

-Wedding Crashers 2 in the works according to Isla Fisher

-First trailer released for The Zookeepers Wife starring Jessica Chastain

-New trailer released for Monster Trucks

-Box Office Predictions

-Mail Bag

The Crow reboot has hit a number of snags over the years and now, it looks like another obstacle has popped up for the long in development reboot. The Hollywood Reporter is claiming that The Crow reboot, now entitled The Crow Reborn, has moved on from its former home at Relativity Media after CEO Ryan Kavanaugh put the company up for sale last month. That would, normally, be good news since the production banner has struggled to get the reboot of the ground, but this kind of transition also comes with a number of difficulties like contract negotiations, schedules, and creative conflicts that could very well complicate Jason Momoa and director Corin Hardy’s involvement with the picture.

BUY OR SELL

Sony Pictures has released a new clip to Passengers. While on a routine journey through space to a new home, two passengers, sleeping in suspended animation, are awakened 90 years too early when their ship malfunctions. It stars Jennifer Lawrence as Aurora Dunn and Chris Pratt as Jim Preston, with the clip giving audiences a better idea of the different threats our space travelers will face on their interstellar mission. The movie will hit theatres on December 21, 2016.

Disney has released a new featurette for Rogue One, giving Star Wars fans a closer behind the scenes at director Gareth Edwards first Star Wars story spin-off. The two-minute look contains a bit of new footage, which focuses on the connection this movie has to the original Star Wars Episode IV, a New Hope. Rogue One is gearing up for its last marketing push ahead of its December 16th debut in theeatres.

It’s been 11 years since Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn appeared in the comedy hit Wedding Crashers and now, according to Isla Fisher, it looks as we might get a sequel. While appearing on The Today show to promote Nocturnal Animals, Fisher announced that Vince Vaughn told her a sequel was in development.

Focus Features has released the first trailer for director Niki Caro’s bestselling adaptation The Zookeeper’s Wife. Based on the novel of the same name, the film stars Jessica Chastain as a real-life wife of a zookeeper living in Poland during World War II who, alongside her husband, operated her zoo as a secret sanctuary for Jews looking for refuge. It opens in theaters on March 31, 2017.

Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for Monster Trucks online. Directed by Ice Age helmer Chris Wedge, the film stars Lucas Till as a high school senior who builds a monster truck of his own, only to come into contact with a literal monster who decides to live inside the vehicle. It hits theatres on January 13, 2017.

According to Deadline, Forest Whitaker is set to star alongside Johnny Depp in LAbyrinth, the Brad Furman-directed drama about the investigation into the murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG. Depp will play a disgraced LAPD detective who is unable to solve the case of the murdered hip-hop icons with Whitaker playing the journalist who teams with him to help determine the truth. A release date for the movie has not been set.

Back in 2014, Screen Gems announced development on a movie adaptation of the immensely popular video game The Last of Us. Later that year, director and screenwriter Neil Druckmann took the stage at San Diego Comic-Con and said there was significant progress being made. Now, two years later, production still isn’t underway and that’s because of alleged creative differences between Sony and Druckmann.

Deadline reports that David Guion & Michael Handelman have been set to script a feature film based on Sesame Street for Warner Brothers studios. The team will first start with a treatment as the studio figures out a narrative angle for a family type film that can possibly set up a new franchise. No release date has been set.

Warner Bros. Japan has released the first trailer for the upcoming live-action Fullmetal Alchemist.
